Monkey Island is, to this day, my favourite game franchise. That said, this version of the game is also amazing. All the dialogue is untouched (but is now also spoken) and the scenery and graphic detail just looks like its been cleaned up a great deal. I really hope they do the same for Monkey Island 2 and 3. Id love to have all the games on my computer!

They say "Intel® integrated video chipsets are not supported" but It runs with only minor issues on my MacBook Core Duo from 2006 with an Intel GMA950. :)

LucasArts, keep up the good work remaking old classics. Aspyr, I hope MI1s success on the Mac App Store means that MI2 (my favorite MI) is coming. Review Edit: This is now a review of both MI1 and MI2… and because MI2 is missing Im removing two ★. Aspyr, if you want to earn them back youll have to release MI2 Special Edition. I bought MI1 Special Edition to support you and to give you an incentive to port MI2.

Its a nice blast from the past, but this simple game is placing such an extreme load on the computer ( a MB Pro 2.2 ) that the fan is running at top speed, and the computer is really really hot after just a few minutes of gameplay. That is completely unreasonable for this level of simple animation and a little music. You simply cant sit with the machine while playing it. Too hot and too much noise from the fans. Please fix this problem right away.

Flash backed 20 years ago excitement! These classic games character was not sophisticated yet, however, well made story, nice trap really satisfied game users. Please revive classic adventure game from Monkey Island 2. (maybe Kings Quest, next)

I played this in my teens and now seeing my kids play it and enjoy it just the same is great. The controls should have been updated to at least improve the GUI a little bit more. Great music and VOs. Hope to see the rest of the series come out in the App Store.

Just as the title suggests! Havent finished, but so far havent found any bugs. Great game. Definatley worth it!

I was always a big fan of the curse of monkey island when I was little, when I saw that they remade the older games, I had to check it out. The Secret Of Monkey Island is a throwback to the classic point and click adventure games. We follow Guybrush Threepwood in his quest to become a pirate. It has laughs, crazy characters, remastered soundtrack, voice acting and new art style to keep things fresh and interesting. I highly recommend for anyone who likes point and click adventure games, or for any of the die hard Monkey Island fans who want to play the oldies but best verisons of the originals.

Very fun and woth the money, if you like puzzle mind games, you will love this!

Would love to give this game 5 stars as I remember loving the original on my Amiga back in the 90s - but I cannot get anything more than the Lucasarts splash screen before it crashes. (and yes, my MacBook Pro meets the required specs) Aspyrs support page doesnt even list the game so Ive filed a support ticket out for it. Hopefully Ive not just thrown ten bucks into the trash.

Ive always been a huge fan of this game, I loved it as a kid and when I saw this remake I just had to have it. As oppose to many other remakes or rereleases this one has been no disappointment, it has stayed true to its original spirit, humor and game play - This release just runs smoother, sounds better and looks prettier that the original. The Secret of Monkey Island was an instant classic when it was initially released and offers countless hours of honest none-violent, humores entertainment. Even though it was from 20 years ago, it still is good to play! :) Cool game in my life. it reminds me of those good all days! haha

I just bought this game and it runs great. But my Macbook Pro (2.4 i5 8g ram 500gb WD black scorpio) which normaly runs around 150 degrees even under the heaviest load, (excluding encoding video), runs at around 215 degrees then shuts down while playing this game, in a matter of 10 minutes. Not sure whats happening, but it only happens when this game is running. FYI.

I have a Macbook Pro, 2.4GHZ with 6gigs of ram and a 500 gig 7200rpm HDD with 256 megs of video ram. The game ran flawlessly, no problems. Overall, this is a fun game and gets your thinking, but thankfully you have the hints. There are a few quirks though.... such as... when using the hints, they are not always intuitive and still have you guessing as to what to do and what to use. When you complete the game, all the end credits run, of which you are unable to exit out of. The only way is to literally shut your computer down and the credits and everything else that goes with it is quite long. That is my only complaint, that I had to sit through all of that stuff. Truly a great game, I enjoyed it and was sad when I fininshed it. I would recommend you buying it.

Ive tried this game on both my MacBook Air and my iMac. Its very glitchy on both of them. Its hard to get him to do things and every now and then the resolution spontaneously changes drastically for the worse!! If the game worked properly, Id love it. As it is, not so much.

Absolutely loved it! Works perfectly on my MacBook Pro. This is a classic role palying game, fun and entertaining....hopefully they will re-issue other classic Lucas Arts games like Loom and Full Throttle. The only problem I have is that I want to change the language from English to Spanish so that my daughter can play it and there is no clear way to change that. If anyone knows how to do it it would be great to know.....

I remember they had this version on PlayStation 2 around 10 years back but i was too young to really understand the concept of the game. Overall i really loved this game and it was very fun to play it again.

Amazing game, challenging, but not too much. I love this game and theres a good reason for it, the graphics have a nice style and the gameplay is great

First let me start off by saying my computer handled this game just fine. I on the other hand had to use hints quite often because it was not always easy to know what to use where. I also despise the walking back and forth and back to figuire out something or get something for a puzzle or scene. I bought this game because of all the good reviews, but I wouldnt buy it again, or any sequels or anything. It is really rather slow and boring. And the credits at the end are terrible. I dont want or care to see all that info, but If I am forced to watch it at least let it scroll by faster, or give me an option to exit! If you enjoy mindless, pointless, sarcastic games you might enjoy this... or if you are between the ages of 5-11. I wouldnt waste my money again.
