Great game, runs HOT!

This is a very good game. The graphics are pretty, the music is fun, and the dialog is extremely entertaining. Its also a long game. Ive invested many, many hours into it and Im not done. You will definitely get your moneys worth (I paid $10). Cons: * The interface is dated. You have to select "verbs" in order to interact with items. Any moderm point-and-click adventure game lets you simply left-click to do whatever needs to be done. Not a big deal but its something that bothers me. * The game runs HOT. My MacBook gets so hot during gameplay that it worries me. Ive been forced to play while sitting on my leather couch and alternating where on the couch my MacBook rests since my leather couch has plenty of cold spots. The graphics are NOT good enough for this kind of hardware load. It must be a bug.

BORING!!!

what a waste of money. i cant believe how many 5 star reviews this has! it is a boring, NON-CHALLENGING game. i bought it thinking it would be a puzzler, and challenging. its so boring, and the scenes have characters who speak to each other and their dialogues take FOREVER to conclude to get on with the game. Im sorry i wasted my money.

The Pirate game of the year!

Originally I had played this with my father when I was a child. I remember how entertaining and fun this game is. It is wonderful to be able to play Monkey Island once again and not have to try and use "Dos box" in order to play it. I recomend this game to anyone who loves the old school style of the "point and click" adventure game. My only question is "Will the company remake the other Monkey Island games?" Please do we need more Guybrush!

A entire journey in the past!

Awesome game I used to play it for hours in the early 90s on my Commodore 64. The entire game would fit on a bunch of floppy disk! Amazing souvenirs and so happy to have found it here on the app store. My friends who havent been raised with this game got into it too right away - which means this game does not only have a sentimental value. Its still as fun as before and Id even say even more fun since it takes you right back to 1990.

Awesome Game!

I loved this game. It had beautiful artwork, humourous dialogue, and fun puzzles. I also find it interesting that you can toggle between new and old graphics. I only wish the second game was on the mac as well.

Great classic remade very nicely, but BOILS your computer

I have been a rabid adventure game fan since the earliest graphic-based examples of the genre, and anyone who has been into adventure games for that long knows how and why Monkey Island series is considered among the best examples of the genre ever. This game is probably my fav. Monkey Island game, and it is beautifully remade BUT it makes my MBA (2012), which otherwise never has heating issues even when working on Photoshop, BURN like a kettle,so much so that I cannot hold it with my bare hand. and if running on battery, lose the entire charge in 1-2 hours (as opposed to the ~5 hrs..) I am not worried about the 9.99 i spent, but worried that i cannot recommend this beautiful rendition of the classic to any of my friends, since I cannot risk my valuable computer for just one game, and neither should anyone. Really wanting to play this game, I researched all over the internet for other people having the same issue and possible solutions. I found out that the terrible heating problem is also present for various generations of MacBook Pros as well, and for many other MBA users other than me, and noone seems to be able to offer a solution. It is very irresponsible of the company to keep selling this clearly faulty app., and not bothering with an update that would fix the heating issue, even though people have been complaining about it since the games release, really guys, what have you been up to for the last 1,5 years?

Fantastic!

What a great game. I never played it in the ’90s, but playing it this weekend really took me back to my childhood playing Kings Quest, Kyrandia, Space Quest, etc., etc., etc. The artwork and voice work is great, and the story is a lot of fun. One really cool feature is the ability to hit the 0 (zero) key to switch to the original graphics and music. Anyway, if you love Adventure Games or just want to play something fun, get this game.

glitchy

The game freezes occasionally during dialogue sequences and you lose all unsaved progress. Good game, but frustrating!

Great Game

Great game. Ive played all old versions of this game. Its awesome to have this back and discover again all puzzles. Nice graphics, content meets the original version.

Beware Opening Titles

Start a new game .. watch titles forever (you cant skip them) … then listen to music while title screen sits motionless … and wait .. and wait. In fact, the title screen NEVER goes away. Endless keyboard bashing discovers that you must press the DELETE key to get rid of the startup screen. Not documented, pointless, no idea why. A dumb attempt at humor? A pity, I remember the original with much fondness, hence the three stars .. and -3 for this absurd irritation.

B+

Great game, well re-made, with just one problem: HUGE memory leak. If youre careful to fully exit and quit the game (nothing running the the background) every couple of hours, you should only have to deal with a few minutes of lag when minimizing/maximizing the game. Otherwise, you may run into 20 minute screen freezes, continuous music (even after a force quit), and other junk. Still, the ocassional restart is well worth the nostalgia.

Game is bugged on El Capitan

Got this game a few weeks ago. Was a lot of fun until I upgraded to El Capitan. Now the screen is offcenter to the degree that the game is unplayable. I’m surprised that this wasn’t tested and fixed before I upgraded since I waited so long to move to El Capitan. If they haven’t fixed this by now I don’t expect that they ever will. Great game but really terrible support. Do not buy.

Does not work with El Capitan

I have emailed Aspyr and they replied that they are aware that this game any many other titles are not compatible with El Capitan but they have not provided notice on the App Store that these games will not work. Loved the game growing up and wish it worked.

Ridiculous

Heaven forbid you need to change the language in the game. You pick one and thats it. NOWHERE can you change the language once the game starts. Not a single option to change it. Even uninstalling and then a reinstall doesnt even work. The support forums online are not helpful. “go to this folder, delete that folder, search for .lkwalknalifne/liknkandcli then delete that one folder”….the support team at aspyr is non existent. “we’ll email you shortly”. 3 days, no contact. I’m asking for a refund. what a joke.
