Crashes on start up

Would love to give this game 5 stars as I remember loving the original on my Amiga back in the 90s - but I cannot get anything more than the Lucasarts splash screen before it crashes. (and yes, my MacBook Pro meets the required specs)

Aspyrs support page doesnt even list the game so Ive filed a support ticket out for it. Hopefully Ive not just thrown ten bucks into the trash.
